Robert Emmett Dolan is een heuse Broadway-veteraan als componist, arrangeur en dirigent. Begin de jaren ’40 trok hij naar Hollywood als muziekregisseur voor Paramount. Hij schreef de muziek maar arrangeerde en dirigeerde die ook voor heel wat musicals en dramatische films. In de jaren ’50 produceerde hij zelfs drie musicals : White Christmas (1954), The Girl Rush (1955) en Anything Goes (1956). Later keerde hij terug naar het toneel.
